Events
The UDINZ approach is to run a year long programme of events, rather than an annual conference. We believe this makes access to insights and networking more accessible to all - a “Conference of many parts” so to speak. You choose what you engage with. We’re pleased to say too that once you’re a member, the vast majority of that content is available free of further charge.
UPCOMING EVENTS
Please note most of our events are free to the staff of UDINZ member organisations (all in the interests of building our cross sectoral community). There are also a limited number of tickets available to buy for those who are not yet members - either prospective members, those we’re already talking to and who are wanting a “try before they buy" option, or members of the public. Costs apply to the latter two groups.

Project #1 - Harakeke Halswell: A new neighbourhood for south-west Christchurch.
This presentation will cover the process behind the landmark 201 Halswell Road development—an ambitious project by Fletcher Living to deliver over 250 new homes and integrate this with high-quality public spaces in Halswell, one of Christchurch’s fastest-growing suburbs. Woolworths is developing a commercial component on the site, which will feature a supermarket and supporting retail.
The focus will be on identifying and unpacking the solutions to the site’s significant horizontal infrastructure challenges, and how an appropriate mix of density and amenity have been enabled through a bespoke ‘global rules’ package developed with urban design and collaboration at its core. The project team say the approach is one of balancing flexibility with quality, allowing a tailored response to complex site constraints which suits the client’s needs.
Presenters Liam Jagvik, Director and Project Manager, and Jade McFarlane, Associate and Urban Designer with Eliot Sinclair (advisors on the project), will capture how the collaborative working relationship with Fletcher Living created the path to tackle the challenges of the planning context, consenting process, and ongoing delivery of this complex, mixed-use community.

Project #2 - Project Ark
A joint venture between Russell Property Group and Mainland Capital has been formed to facilitate the redevelopment of the former Noah's Hotel and the creation of a mixed-use scheme for central Christchurch. Spanning some 4,879m2 with frontage to Avon River, Worcester Street and Cathedral Square, this mixed-use site, including the redevelopment of the hotel, has been described as the "best development opportunity in the Christchurch CBD and will add momentum to the city's ongoing rejuvenation".
Our presenter Grant Thomas - Development Manager for Russell Property Group (read more on Grant in the carousel below) will outline some important aspects of the redevelopment including;
» how they will reinstate the 1970’s iconic Christchurch landmark, delivering a premium hotel with river facing hospitality and new roof top bar
» make the most of the unparalleled CBD location with three prominent street frontages
» achieve their targeted 5-Star Greenstar Rating
» undertake Siesmic enhancements to achieve min 80%NBS
» adhere to their Target completion date in 2027
The result will be a 13,215m² Hotel with 14 levels and 240 Rooms with a New Worcester Street entrance.

Project #3: Victoria Mansions Hotel Redevelopment.
This project transforms the earthquake-damaged Victoria Mansions — a 1935 heritage-listed apartment building — into a 59-room boutique hotel. Located at a key intersection in central Christchurch, the design retains and restores the original façade while introducing two carefully integrated upper levels. The proposal re-establishes the building as a city landmark and gateway, blending heritage conservation with sensitive contemporary addition. It supports Christchurch’s wider urban regeneration while giving new life to a long-neglected site.
Presenting on behalf of the developer, our speaker Szymon Goździkowski - Director at Ignite (read more on Szymon below) will outline some important aspects of the redevelopment.
